Our Curriculum

Moriac Primary School is a Professional Learning Community of passionate, skilled educators whose focus is on ensuring that all children learn at their point of need and are provided the necessary adjustments to enable this to occur. We are committed in our belief that all children have the capacity to achieve success and are united in our efforts to ensure our students are given the best opportunities to learn, and achieve high quality success.

Our curriculum encompasses English, Maths, Humanities (History, Geography, Business and Economics and Civics and Citizenship), Science, STEM (Design and Technologies), Digital Technologies and Respectful Relationships. Specialist areas of Visual Art, Performing Arts, Dance, Music, Media Art, Physical Education and LOTE (French).

We work hard at continually developing and reviewing consistent and rigorous curriculum documentation, ensuring that we are teaching our students a curriculum that has sufficient:

-           Scope – depth and breadth of the learning content to be taught (and developed) at each specific year level, and across year levels.

-          Sequence - the order in which the content should be taught for the best learning (building on past knowledge and developmental stages of learning) within a year level, and across year levels.

All of our learning is based on the Victorian Curriculum Foundation-10.

The Victorian Curriculum sets out what every student should learn during their first eleven years of schooling. The curriculum is the common set of knowledge and skills required by students for life-long learning, social development and active and informed citizenship.

The Victorian Curriculum incorporates the Australian Curriculum and reflects Victorian priorities and standards.

The design of the curriculum is set out below:
