Languages Other Than English (LOTE)

French

French is an engaging and valued part of learning at Moriac Primary School, where students are introduced to language and culture through fun, interactive and meaningful experiences. Our program supports students to develop confidence in speaking and listening, while building an understanding and appreciation of French culture and traditions.

Through weekly lessons, students learn vocabulary, pronunciation and conversational skills through songs, games, stories and collaborative activities. As they progress through the year levels, students build their language knowledge and apply their learning in authentic contexts, strengthening both their communication skills and cultural awareness.

A highlight of our program is our annual French-themed day, where students and staff come together to celebrate language and culture by dressing up, enjoying French music and sampling delicious French-inspired foods. This special event creates a vibrant atmosphere across the school and brings learning to life in a memorable and joyful way.

Learning a language helps students develop curiosity, global awareness and confidence, while strengthening their problem-solving and communication skills — important capabilities that support their learning across all areas of the curriculum.
